“The B-Teem”: The Brummie Misfits Bringing Back Offensive Comedy—And Doing It Brilliantly Bad

Move over superheroes—Birmingham has its own brand of vigilantes, and they’re not exactly smooth operators. The B-Teem, a six-episode online sitcom premiering in 2025, promises laughter, chaos, and a dash of chaos-driven justice in a city that’s seen it all.

Created, written, and directed by Pete Hirst and produced under Fortitude Productions, The B-Teem follows four middle-aged, out-of-work ex-soldiers who meet in the unemployment line and decide to take the law into their own unpredictable hands. Their mission: to clean up Birmingham’s streets from crime, corruption, and every vice in between. Their methods? Questionable at best—but hilariously heartfelt.

Starring Jon-Paul Gates, Joe Kirton, Alexander Rose, Pete Hirst, Lou Angelo, and Hannah Sowter, the show revives the charm of traditional British sitcoms with modern-day edge, blending social commentary and absurd humour in equal measure.

“It’s a return to good old-fashioned offensive humour,” says Pete Hirst, the show’s creator. “We tackle racism, corruption, stereotyping, immigration, homophobia, drug trafficking, and government blackmail—but never at the expense of anyone other than the leads. The beauty is, it offends you—but you have to think about why. That’s what makes me laugh.”

Joe Kirton adds, “We’ve got some nuts content—completely out there—but it’s grounded in today’s issues. There’s humour, there’s emotion, and some kick-ass fight sequences. We’ve genuinely made something unique.”

Michelle Coleman, Director of Photography, notes, “It’s not a premise I’ve ever seen before. Shooting a sitcom with the energy of a Hollywood action film was a challenge—especially when you’re trying not to laugh behind the camera.”

Through six riotous episodes, The B-Teem doesn’t just poke fun at Birmingham’s quirks—it dives into deeper societal themes: financial struggles, identity, inclusivity, and the blurred lines between right and wrong. The series proves that even the most seasoned individuals can still adapt, grow, and find meaning in a world that often takes itself too seriously.

In an era of safe humour and sanitized content, The B-Teem unapologetically dares to be bold, brash, and thought-provoking. Expect politically incorrect comedy with a conscience, laugh-out-loud banter, and an unlikely team of heroes who show that justice—no matter how badly done—still matters.
